Hello, I'm Somin Ali

Software Product Line Manager · EV Charging Platforms · Backend Engineer

7+ years in EV charging. I implemented OCPP 1.6J and OCPI 2.2.1 from the specification up in Java, architected a CPMS that ran 1,000 chargers, and led the team that built it. Today I own a multi tenant SaaS product line serving CPOs and eMSPs across the GCC. The live CMS below is one I built myself.

EV Charging Platforms

End-to-end OCPP & OCPI protocol implementation — real-time monitoring, remote operations, tariffs, billing, and roaming.

🧭

Product Line Management

Roadmaps, requirement specs engineering can build from, OCPP/OCPI certification readiness, UAT, and sales enablement.

🏗️

Architecture & Backend

HLD & LLD for distributed real-time systems. Java and Spring Boot, WebSocket servers, REST APIs, caching, and CI/CD.

Why Companies Work With Me

🚀
Ships to Production

Built and deployed a full EV CMS platform — live, scalable, and handling real charging sessions.

🧩
Domain Expert in EV / IoT

Deep expertise in OCPP 1.6, OCPI 2.2.1 protocols — rare skill set in a fast-growing industry.

📐
Specs Engineering Can Build From

Writes the requirement doc, not just the wish list. Agreed solution stated as requirements, open decisions kept separate.

🌍
Bridges Product and Protocol

Certification planning, roadmap calls, and CPO scope grounded in how the protocol behaves in the field, not how it reads on paper.

🔬
Low-Level Systems Knowledge

Written multithreaded servers in C, custom data structures, and socket-level programming from scratch.

📦
Builds for Scale

Designs with concurrency, caching, message queues, and horizontal scalability in mind from day one.

Experience

Software Product Line Manager

ENERGIC
May 2026 – Present
  • Own three core products on a multi tenant SaaS platform — Device Hub, Network for CPOs, and Mobility for eMSPs — plus the ChargeX driver app, from requirement definition through UAT.
  • Scoped and specified a new Business Accounts product line covering RFID, prepaid and postpaid billing, and per vehicle cost allocation.
  • Ran an OCPP 1.6 gap analysis and produced the OCPP 2.0.1 readiness plan, OCPI readiness plan, and OCA certification checklist.
  • Connected 5 roaming partners over OCPI 2.2.1 and authored the tariff, settlement, and multi currency specifications behind them.

OCPP Consultant

Transond System Private Limited
Jan 2026 – Apr 2026
  • Advised the engineering team on OCPP 1.6J, converting specification language into concrete message flows, state handling, and error cases.
  • Reviewed CMS architecture and operator workflows, mapping CPO pain points to the scalability gaps that surface past pilot scale.

Software Development Manager

Volttic (Tvesas Electric Solutions Pvt. Ltd.)
Aug 2021 – Nov 2025
  • Led a team of 5+ engineers through release planning, code review, and production support for a CPMS running 1,000 chargers at peak.
  • Automated B2B billing engine: multi model engine covering CAPEX and OPEX contracts, generating 200+ invoices a month with tax calculation and payment tracking.
  • OCPI 2.2.1 roaming: full implementation covering session authorisation, CDR exchange, and tariffs, opening the network to external eMSP partners.
  • Telematics monitoring: real time tracking of battery state, location, and charger status over WebSockets with automated fault alerting.

Software Engineer

Volttic (Tvesas Electric Solutions Pvt. Ltd.)
Feb 2019 – Aug 2021
  • Implemented OCPP 1.6J over Java WebSocket between charge points and the CPMS backend, covering the core profile, firmware management, and smart charging.
  • Built the CPMS from scratch: live charger tracking, tariffs, remote OCPP operations, OTA firmware upload, charging profiles, QR activation, third party APIs.
  • Wrote a desktop charge point simulator to validate CPMS behaviour and protocol conformance without physical test units.
